The Jalan Kayu EagleCares Badminton Bootcamp was launched on 1 November 2025 at Fernvale Village, bringing together children and youths from the Jalan Kayu and Fernvale neighbourhoods for a day of learning, play, and inspiration.

Jointly organised by Jalan Kayu Community Sports Network (CSN), Singapore Badminton Association, and Fernvale Village, and generously supported by sponsors Eagle Brand, JK Tech Foundation, JK Tech Elite Badminton Academy, One Smazh, and Hundred, the programme aims to introduce badminton to children and youths through certified coaches and role models from Singapore’s national team.
National shuttlers Insyirah Khan and Joel Koh joined the boot camp to share their skills and passion with young participants. Over the course of two hours, students received professional guidance on the fundamentals of badminton, while also learning valuable lessons in discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.

“It’s always special to connect with young players who are just discovering the joy of badminton. Being part of this bootcamp for the first time reminds me of how I started badminton with curiosity, passion, and a lot of encouragement from those around me. I hope today’s session inspires these kids to keep believing in themselves and to find confidence both on and off the court.” said national team player Insyirah Khan.
Participants included 12-year-old students from Fern Green Primary School, particularly those under the Financial Assistance Scheme or similar programmes, as well as youths from the neighbourhood.
It was announced at the event that 12 students will be awarded a three-month weekly training programme, fully sponsored to nurture their potential and sustain their interest in the sport. To further support their journey, these selected students will be receiving goodie bags from Eagle Brand and starter kits — including jerseys, racquets, and court shoes — from Hundred, to equip the young athletes as they continue their badminton journey.

Beyond its contribution to the bootcamp, Eagle Brand has also made a financial commitment to support the ongoing development of badminton in Singapore, helping to fund grassroots initiatives and community programmes led by the SBA. This partnership underscores Eagle Brand’s belief in the power of sport to uplift lives and build stronger, more connected communities.

Ms Karin Chan, Regional Head of Marketing at Eagle Brand, said: “At Eagle Brand, we believe in empowering the next generation, not only in health, but also in spirit and determination. In line with our brand promise “For Your Well-Being,” this initiative reflects our commitment to supporting children and youths in leading active lifestyles, pursuing their passions, and building confidence through sport.
We are proud to organise this event in collaboration with the Singapore Badminton Association and other key partners, whose shared dedication helps inspire young athletes to reach their fullest potential. As part of this effort, Eagle Brand is contributing 120 goodie bags as a token of encouragement — a reminder that every great journey begins with a single step.”

Badminton is a sport for all, cutting across age, background, and circumstance. The Jalan Kayu EagleCares Badminton Bootcamp reflects a shared commitment to create opportunities for youths, especially those from less privileged families, to discover the joy of sport, stay active, and develop life skills through play.
